Malin Martin studied history and cultural studies at the University of Leipzig from 2012 to 2017. She then continued her studies in the German-French Master's program in History at École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales (EHESS) in Paris and Heidelberg University, graduating in 2019 with a master's thesis on German trips to the battlefields of World War I in the interwar period. From 2020 to 2021, she completed a research traineeship at the Berlin-Hohenschönhausen Memorial. From 2022 to 2024, she worked at Hohenschönhausen Memorial as an exhibition assistant and project coordinator for the web-relaunch.

Since October 2024, she has been a research assistant in subproject C01 Modeling Home(s) in Museums – Die Modellierung von Heimat(en) im Museum – of the CRC 1671 at Heidelberg University. There she is conducting research on Models of home(s) in local and city museums in German border regions.
