Alessa Karlinski Dipl.-Jur.

In 2018, I began my studies in law at Freie Universität Berlin and completed the First State Examination in September 2024. My academic focus, Internationalization of Legal Systems, was pursued in 2020/21 at Université Grenoble-Alpes.

Alongside my studies, I worked from October 2021 to September 2023 as a student research assistant with teaching responsibilities for the tutorial program at Freie Universität Berlin. Additionally, from June 2022 to October 2024, I served as a student research assistant for Jun.-Prof. Dr. Bettina Rentsch.

Since November 2024, I have been employed as a research associate with CRC 1671, Subproject C07 – Belonging through law. In my research, I focus on representations of belonging in family law. The law protects the family as a space for individual self-realization and as a private sphere of belonging. The subject of my study is the tension between the private or individual aspects of the family and the collective dimension of belonging as a societal negotiation process, which is also reflected in the regulation of legal parenthood in cases of multiple intentional parenthood. The interplay between individual decisions of family relationships and collective recognition within the law is to be examined and made productive in the discourse surrounding the regulation of parenthood.
