Home(s) in public space

This subproject will relate and connect the – in everday language widely used – term ‘home’ and its numerous facets with the scientific use of the term in the CRC.

Project description

The project’s activities are based on the belief that engaging in dialogue with the public and exchanging ideas with audiences, guests, artists and cultural professionals is the only way to capture the full range of perceptions, practices and ideas about home(s) that exist beyond purely scientific discourse. These are essential for discussing a “model of home(s)” and thus find their way into scientific debates, enriching them and, in turn, they can become the basis for research themselves — through recordings or documentation — provided that the protagonists agree.

The project is therefore deliberately positioned at the intersection of science and the public sphere. Its events closely align with the topics and concepts of the research design, specifically involving all subprojects. As the term 'home' is widely discussed, the target audience for the events is broad: ranging from children and young people to families and older people, and including urban and rural residents, students, cultural citizens, artists, and renowned researchers.
