Daniel Seifert is a research associate in subproject A02, “The Lost and Longed-for Homeland in the Exilic Literature of the Hebrew Bible.“ He is pursuing his doctorate at Heidelberg University under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Jan Christian Gertz. His dissertation is entitled “Homeland in the Book of Ezekiel: A Redaction-Critical Study.”
From 2017 to 2022, Daniel Seifert studied Protestant theology and Jewish studies at Heidelberg University and the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. In 2022, he completed his degree in Protestant theology with the first ecclesiastical examination (overall grade: 1.2) and was awarded the degree of Magister Theologiae. 
From October 2022 to September 2024, Daniel Seifert worked as a research assistant to Prof. Dr. Jan Christian Gertz at Heidelberg University. He subsequently completed a research stay at Union Theological Seminary in New York City from September 2024 to March 2025 under the supervision of Prof. Dr. David M. Carr. This stay was funded by a generous scholarship from the Karl Schlecht Stiftung.
Since October 2024, Daniel Seifert has contributed as a research associate in Collaborative Research Center 1671, “Home(s): Phenomena, Practices, Representations.”
