about
Lina Varlemann studied musicology and arts management as well as English literary and cultural studies at Hochschule für Musik Detmold, Universität Paderborn and Hochschule für Musik Franz Liszt Weimar. She completed her master's degree in 2019 with a thesis on the organisation of Joseph Joachim's concerts in London. Since 2020, she has been working on her doctoral thesis, in which she examines Arthur Chappell's concert management of the Popular Concerts in London during the 19th century. In this context, she was awarded a DAAD scholarship for a research stay in London, Oxford and Manchester in 2021 and 2022.
She also worked as a project manager at Niedersächsische Sparkassenstiftung from 2022 to 2025 and as organisational manager at Sommerliche Musiktage Hitzacker in 2024. Since 2026, she has been a research associate in the subproject Ö “Home(s) in Public Spaces” of CRC 1671.
Her research interests include the concert scene of 19th-century England, its organisation and the musicians who performed in it.
