About

Doctoral student in the Chair of Visual and Media Anthropology of the Heidelberg Center for Transcultural Studies (HCTS), as part of the “SFB1671-Heimat(en): Phenomena, Practices, Representations”. He practiced as a trained architect between 2009 and 2022. Between 2021 and 2024 he completed his M.A. in Cultural Heritage Studies in Heidelberg University, with a master’s thesis that examined the social constitution of Newah courtyards in the Kathmandu Valley as spaces of built heritage.
Since October 2024 he works as a doctoral researcher in the Subproject B02 “Explorations of Home and Homemaking between House and Neighborhood in Nepal” under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Christiane Brosius. As a dissertation project, Diego researches the lived experience and professional production of architects in the contemporary Kathmandu Valley, focusing on the spatial constitution of home, belonging and common architectures in neighborhood spaces. He has complemented his work as an architect and researcher with experience in design and academical management.
