Prof. Dr. Renata Motta's chair „Society, Culture, and Communication of Ibero-America“ has one vacancy to be covered as soon as possible
Student Research Assistant (f/m/d) with B.A. degree
initially 10 hrs. per month, for 6 months (extension possible for both hours and duration)
to support Prof. Motta's chair „Society, Culture, and Communication of Ibero-America“ at the Heidelberg Center for Ibero-American Studies and in the framework of the CRC 1671 subproject B07 „Kitchen and Garden: Homemaking Practices of Latin American Activists“.
The project B07 explores processes of world-making in social and ecological struggles, with a focus on decolonial feminism, decolonial ecologies and grassroots activism in Brazil. Drawing on political sociology, postcolonial and Latin American studies, it examines how communities and movements articulate alternative political and ecological imaginaries in response to extractivism and gendered inequalities.
Your tasks:
- Search and review of scientific literature (Political Sociology, Post-Colonial and Gender Studies)
- Build an online database of relevant literature (annotated bibliographies)
- Map concepts and literature connections
- Support the scientific writing of a project proposal
- Support with data analysis and transcript preparation
- Support with event organization
Your profile:
- Hold a Bachelor’s degree, ideally in Area Studies with a focus on Latin America
- Be enrolled as a student at Heidelberg University
- Excellent command of English and Portuguese (at least C1)
- Ideally, have an advanced level of German
- Ideally, have some experience with reference management systems (e.g. Zotero, Citavi, Mendeley, or EndNote) or at least an interest in acquiring these skills
- Ideally, have some experience with qualitative methodologies
