Simon Stewner is a research associate in the CRC subproject C06 “Homeland Outside and Inside – Artistic Self-Positionings of Psychiatric Inmates around 1900.” He completed his bachelor’s degree in history and political science as well as his master’s degree in Global History at Heidelberg University. In his master’s thesis, supervised by Prof. Dr. Katja Patzel-Mattern and Prof. Dr. Karen Nolte, he examined psychologically injured soldiers in the First World War and their emotionality and masculinity. Alongside his studies, he worked as a student assistant at the Heidelberg University Archives and in the research project “Time with (Grand)Fathers. Forms of Male Parenthood in the Structural Transformation of the Second Half of the 20th Century.” Since September 2024, he has also been a research associate at the Heidelberg University Museum. As part of his research focuses in the history of emotions, psychiatry, and knowledge, he is writing his dissertation within the subproject.
