Wiebke Staasmeyer studied musicology and arts management at Hochschule für Musik Franz Liszt Weimar and Friedrich-Schiller-Universität Jena. She completed her bachelor’s degree in 2016 with a thesis on Heinrich Isaac’s Choralis Constantinus and her master’s degree in historical musicology in 2019 with a thesis on the Alamire manuscripts.

From 2014 to 2023, she worked as an editor for the musicological journal Die Tonkunst. From 2020 to 2023, she was a research associate to Prof. Dr. Christiane Wiesenfeldt at the Department of Musicology at Heidelberg University. During this time, she wrote her doctoral dissertation Heimatkonstruktionen in den Kalevala-Vertonungen (1860–1902), which she completed in 2024.

From 2021 to 2024, she served as scientific coordinator of the research initiative Home(s): Phenomena, Practices, Representations. Since the approval of the Collaborative Research Centre 1671 Home(s) she has been its scientific coordinator and managing director.
